(8564) Anomalocaris ist ein Asteroid des äußeren Hauptgürtels, der am 17. Oktober 1995 von den japanischen Amateurastronomen Yoshisada Shimizu und Takeshi Urata am Nachi-Katsuura-Observatorium (IAU-Code 905) in der Präfektur Wakayama in Japan entdeckt wurde.

Der Asteroid wurde nach Anomalocaris benannt, einem Fossil aus der Gattung der Anomalocarida, einer Gruppe ausgestorbener, mariner, wirbelloser Tiere ohne feste systematische Einordnung, die den Gliederfüßern (Arthropoda) möglicherweise nahestehen und die in der Zeit des frühen und mittleren Kambriums (vor 530 bis 501 Millionen Jahren) mit einer Länge zwischen 60 und 120 Zentimetern das größte Tier waren, das aus jener Zeit bekannt ist.
